We continue to care for our Carers and are concentrating on providing the best level of support to patients on our Carers Register.
A news item will appear on this soon.
The Practice has a well-established Carers Group and we have a dedicated member of the Reception Team who keeps people on our carers register informed and updated on any new initiatives and also organises events specifically tailored to the needs of carers.
At the Acorn, recognise that the work of Carers often goes unnoticed or that Carers are not acknowledged for the hard work and commitment they make to those they care for. In 2004, the Practice won a National Carers Award and continues to strive to support Carers in any way it can.
The Acorn held an event Caring for our Carers in September 09 inviting all the people on our carers register. Here a few photos from the event.

The Practice has signed up to an agreement with the County Council to further support and work they do to support Carers- more information will be posted on the website shortly.
The Practice has signed up to an agreement with the PCT to further support Carers, this is called the Carers Prescription and anyone from the age of 5 upwards who is a carer for someone can access help and support, be it respite care, funding, breaks or just someone to talk to, there is help for everyone. Carers who are patients are the Acorn can be referred by one of our GPs or nursing team. Just ask at Reception or make an appointment to discuss how we can help you if you need help with your Caring role.
The Acorn are also working with the County Council on a project to work even more closely with the patients who are on our Carers Register. We already work closely with our carers but this project will help us to focus more closely on more tailored support.
The next event for Carers will be in the New Year.
If you are a Carer and want to know more, just call the Surgery and we will be only too glad to help you.
