
We have a very dedicated staff team at the Acorn and the number of patients registering with us continues to grow. Despite the impact of this on our workloads, we are committed to delivering a high quality service to all our patients. We are a friendly practice and pride ourselves on the excellent working relationships we enjoy.

Dr Brendan Boyle (Senior Partner)
Graduated from Edinburgh University in 1976
BSc Hons, MB, ChB, MRCP. His special interests include men's health, child health & development, stroke prevention, heart disease, older people, dementia. Dr Boyle is a GP Trainer.
Dr Susan Stanton (Partner)
Graduated from Bristol University in 1978
MB, ChB, MRCGP, DCH, Dip Chinese Med, Dip Med Ed, DRCOG. Her special interests include women's health, child health, contraception, complementary medicine. Dr Stanton is also a GP Trainer.
Dr Mary Simpson (Partner)
Graduated from St Bartholomew's London in 1999
MB, BS, DRCOG, MRCGP, Dip Med Ed. Her special interests include child & teenage health. She is a GP Trainer.
Dr Gysbert Fourie (GP Partner)
Graduated from University of Free State Bloefontein, South Africa. MB Chb, MRCGP. Dr Fourie’s special interests include men's health, minor surgery, orthopaedics, joint injections and no-scalpel vasectomy.
Dr Jo Scrivens (Salaried GP)
Graduated from Leeds University in 1996
MB, ChB, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFFP, Dip Med Ed. Dr Scrivens covers a broad range of general practice and has a special interest in medical student education and GP training.
Dr Sobia Khan
Graduated from India in 1997, MBBS, MRCGP. Dr Khan's special interests include paediatrics, mental health and women's health. Before training in general practice, Dr Khan qualified in paediatrics with the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health. As well as English, Dr Khan is also fluent in Urdu. Dr Khan is an Associate GP Trainer.
Janet Edge, Nurse Partner
Janet leads the Nursing Team and her special interests include diabetes, asthma, heart disease. She is qualified to treat minor illness and is a Nurse prescriber. Janet joined the GP Partnership as Nurse Partner in July 2009, supporting the Practice's strategic priorities, project development and progression of clinical services. Janet continues in her clinical role as Lead Nurse.
Sue King, Practice Nurse
Sue’s special interests include diabetes and heart disease. Sue is a Nurse prescriber and qualified in the treatment of minor illness.
Hannah Campion, Practice Nurse
Hannah joined the Team in May 2011 and is responsible for a range of treatment room duties, dealing with minor illness and childhood immunisations.
Emma Pitts, Assistant Practitioner
Emma graduated in March 2010 and has progressed from Health Care Assistant to the role of Assistant Practitioner which is a new and innovative nursing assistant post. Emma’s special interests and skills include, spirometry, wound care, smoking cessation and ECGs and she is now able to support patients in reviewing uncomplicated chronic health conditions.
Racheal McMillan, Health Care Assistant
Racheal undertakes phlebotomy, ECGs, blood pressure testing, dressings. She is trained in smoking cessation advice and undertakes height and weight assessments.
Trish Hawitt Palmer, Managing Partner
Trish has the responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Practice and for supporting the clinical and administrative teams. Trish joined the Partnership as Managing Partner in October 2009, continuing in her role as Practice Manager with operational management responsibilities but with the additional remit of strategic, business and organisational development.
Sue Jacka, Finance Administrator
Sue deals with day-to-day financial issues relating to book-keeping and accounting, staff payroll and leave issues, stock control and budgeting and generally helps the Practice Manager to keep an eye on the Practice's purse-strings!
